The Skills for Life Action Group will look at ensuring a coherent basic skills offer in Southwark that addresses the regional, sub-regional and borough level Skills for Life strategies and action plans. Southwark has acute literacy, numeracy and ESOL needs and there is much to consider in how resources and efforts are best applied for the benefit of local people.
The targets for improving Skills for Life levels in Southwark are challenging and it is important that all stakeholder work together if these are to be achieved.
In April 2002, the Southwark Network for Lifelong Learning held a Skills for Life conference at Southwark Cathedral. Since then analysis of provision in the borough has raised issues and unmet needs which require collaborative solutions.
